Human rights activist and Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leader Sammi Deen Baloch has said she fears arrest and imprisonment after weeks of threats and alleged harassment in Karachi.
In a video message posted on X, Ms Baloch said vehicles belonging to Pakistani forces arrived outside her home on Saturday night, sought information about her and attempted to intimidate her.
She said she had planned to record the message on the 17th anniversary of her father’s enforced disappearance, but released it a day earlier because of what she described as increasing pressure and threats.
Ms Baloch said she had faced harassment, arrests and imprisonment in the past, but that these measures had not stopped her campaign for the recovery of her father and other missing persons.
She said that if she was arrested again for raising questions about enforced disappearances, she would continue to do so from prison.
“If I am arrested for raising my voice, I will continue to ask in prison where my father is and where the other missing persons are,” she said.
Ms Baloch demanded the recovery of her father and justice for all families of missing persons.
She said history had repeatedly shown that those who stand on the side of justice cannot be silenced through imprisonment, harassment or violence.
“We will continue to speak because we cannot remain silent in the face of the suffering and oppression in Balochistan,” she said.
“We cannot live with such pain and injustice without raising our voices. As long as we are on this land, we will continue to resist, raise our voices, and ask questions,” she added,
There was no immediate public response from the authorities to her allegations.
