The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has released footage purporting to show an IED attack and subsequent ambush on a Pakistani military convoy in Mastung, which the group claimed killed 13 personnel and injured more than 10 others.
The one-minute-and-38-second video, released by Hakkal, the BLA’s media wing, appears to show fighters placing a large quantity of explosives beneath a bridge in the Khadkocha area before an armoured convoy approaches along the Quetta-Karachi highway.
As the convoy passes over the bridge, an explosion appears to strike one of the armoured vehicles.
The video also contains aerial footage, apparently recorded by a drone, showing the aftermath of the blast. Fighters can later be seen approaching the damaged armoured vehicle and setting it on fire, while others remain positioned along the highway.
The attack was carried out on 22 August by BLA fighters who targeted the convoy with an improvised explosive device and subsequently ambushed another armoured vehicle and accompanying vehicles, according to the group.
“In this severe attack, 13 personnel of the occupying army were killed and more than 10 others injured,” BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said in a statement issued after the attack.
