Unidentified armed men attacked Pakistani army posts on Thursday in Balochistan’s Kech district.

According to sources, the attackers seized the post and confiscated the large cache of army weapons. The attack was carried out in Azghandi area between Abdoi and Wakai, in Tump town of district Kech.

Sources further said the Pakistani forces have suffered heavy casualties in the attack but the army has not yet confirmed or denied the news.

While on Friday, an armed “pro-independence” group known as BRAS claimed responsibility for the attack. The group released the photos of the post captured, on its official twitter account.

Baloch Khan, the spokesperson of Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar (BRAS), an umbrella organisation of BLA, BLF, BRA and BRG, has said that at least 11 personnel of Pakistani military were killed in the attack on Thursday evening in Tump. 

“The outposts of Pakistani military were targeted in Azghandi Kaor, Abdoi Tagran. These outposts were fully captured and all enemy belongings and weaponry were confiscated by Baloch freedom fighters,” BRAS spokesman said.

He further said in the press release: “In the attack 11 enemy personnel were killed, multiple others were injured and several of the enemy troops fled their outposts leaving behind their colleagues. After fully capturing the outposts, the freedom fighters of BRAS confiscated all the weapons of the enemy forces.”

According to local sources, Pakistani forces have closed the border point at Abdoi after the attack on Thursday, as a result of which more than 2,000 vehicles are stuck in the area.

Drivers stranded at the border told media that they have been suffering from severe cold and hunger and thirst since yesterday.

They have called on the authorities to allow them to return to their homes.

While the Pakistani military helicopters were also reportedly witnessed in the area. The photos taken by locals show the helicopters surveilling the area.
