The bullet-riddled body of 14-year-old Shehzad, who his family says was forcibly disappeared more than a year ago, was recovered from the Gramkan Road area of Panjgur district on Saturday.

The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Panjgur for medico-legal formalities.

According to the family, Shehzad was detained at his home in the Rahimabad area of Parom during a search operation on the night of May 31, 2025, and taken away. They alleged that Pakistani forces and state-backed armed men, locally referred to as “death squads”, were involved in the raid.

Local sources said Pakistani forces had cordoned off Rahimabad and Naeemabad in Parom at around midnight and raided several homes during the operation.

Family members said Shehzad, a student, was taken away during the raid and had remained missing since then. They said he was neither produced before any court nor had any government institution provided information about his arrest, detention or whereabouts.

During his disappearance, Shehzad’s younger sister, Gulzameen Baloch, appeared in videos shared on social media, appealing for help in securing her brother’s safe recovery.

The family said it had approached different authorities for months, but no information was provided.

More than a year later, Shehzad’s body was recovered from Gramkan Road with gunshot wounds.

The circumstances surrounding his death have not been officially explained, while Pakistani authorities had not issued a statement regarding the family’s allegations at the time of publication.

Local activists in Panjgur described Shehzad’s killing as part of a continuing pattern in the district, alleging that around 70 young men have been found dead after previously disappearing since last year.
