The station house officer (SHO) of Manguchar Police Station and his bodyguard have gone missing in Kalat’s Manguchar area, with police sources saying they may have been abducted.
SHO Ali Asghar Nechari left the police station with his bodyguard, Salman, in a private vehicle for a routine patrol, sources said, adding that neither returned to the station.
Police sources said they were investigating the circumstances surrounding their disappearance, with initial inquiries pointing to a possible abduction.
The incident comes amid a series of abductions involving police and government officials in Balochistan.
In September, Kharan Deputy Commissioner Muneer Ahmed Soomro, acting Chagai SHO ASI Gul Shah Khan Mohammad Hasni and at least seven police personnel were reported abducted in separate incidents, while Nushki Mal Police Station SHO Mir Manda Khan Mandai was also taken and released a few days later.
Soomro was released last Friday, while several of the other abducted personnel and officials remained missing.
