Reports have emerged of the alleged enforced disappearance of three people from Kharan, Kech and Mastung, while one person has reportedly returned home in Quetta.
According to sources, Dr Abdul Malik, 37, son of Haji Noor Ahmed and a resident of Kharan, was allegedly detained and forcibly disappeared by the Frontier Corps (FC) in Kharan at around 2 a.m. on October 2.
In Kech, Asad Baloch, 27, son of Kauda Dil Murad and a resident of Shapuk, was reportedly detained and forcibly disappeared from his home in Absar, Turbat, on the night of August 18 by an armed group described by sources as a state-backed “death squad”.
Similarly, Mumtaz Baloch, 18, son of Sultan Muhammad and a resident of Mastung, was allegedly detained and forcibly disappeared from Mastung on June 5 by the FC and Military Intelligence (MI).
Meanwhile, Malik Ali Nawaz Baloch, son of Ghulam Jan and a resident of Sariab, Quetta, reportedly returned home on October 3 after allegedly being forcibly disappeared on October 2.
Enforced disappearances remain a longstanding issue in Balochistan, with families and rights groups accusing Pakistani forces and intelligence agencies of detaining individuals and holding them incommunicado.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee’s (BYC) Human Rights Department said it documented 507 alleged enforced disappearances during the first six months of 2026, with Quetta and Kech recording the highest numbers.
The report also said many cases were documented weeks or months after the alleged disappearance because families were threatened against reporting them to the media and human rights organisations.
