Unidentified armed men abducted the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mal Police Station from the Ahmed Wal area of Nushki late on Tuesday, the latest in a series of abductions involving police and government officials across Balochistan in recent days.
The officer, identified as Mir Manda Khan Mandai, was taken to an unknown location, according to local sources.
His abduction comes days after acting SHO ASI Gul Shah Khan Mohammad Hasni was abducted by armed men in Chagai on Saturday.
Several other police and government officials have also been abducted in separate incidents over the past week.
Kharan Deputy Commissioner Muneer Ahmed Soomro was taken at Patkin Barshonki on Sunday while travelling from Quetta to Kharan. Police constable and gunman Mohammad Yousuf, police driver Peerak and a guest identified as Nasrullah, who were accompanying him, were also abducted.
A day earlier, armed men set up a roadblock near Panjpai in Quetta and abducted three police personnel who were travelling to attend a wedding. Another police officer, Abdul Rasool Sumalani, was abducted from the Daringarh area of Mastung the same day.
Meanwhile, armed men attacked Baghbana Police Station in Khuzdar on Tuesday and set the station on fire.
Two police personnel, including SHO Muneer Alam Jattak, were injured in the attack.
No group had claimed responsibility for the abductions or the attack on Baghbana Police Station at the time of publication.
