Five people, including a 17-year-old student, have reportedly gone missing after alleged detentions in Quetta and Karachi.
According to reports, 17-year-old student Asfand Baloch, son of Dost Muhammad Baloch, was detained from Killi Almas on Airport Road in Quetta at around 4am on 4 August 2026.
Personnel from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Military Intelligence (MI) allegedly carried out the detention. No information about Asfand’s whereabouts has emerged since.
Another Quetta resident, 27-year-old student Wajid Baloch, son of Muhammad Anwar, has been missing since 10 August 2024.
Sources said Wajid was taken by CTD personnel from Qambrani Road in Kashmirabad at around 1am. No information about his whereabouts has emerged in the two years since his disappearance.
Meanwhile, three cases were reported from Karachi’s Sharafi Malir area.
Usama, son of Sadiq, a 26-year-old labourer, and Niaz, son of Rashid, a 25-year-old labourer, were detained from Haji Shah Ali Town at around 1:30am on 1 August 2026.
Sources said Rangers and CTD personnel took the two men into custody. Their whereabouts have remained unknown since.
A mechanic, Shahid, son of Abdul Hameed, was also reportedly detained by Rangers and CTD personnel at around 1:30am that night. Shahid is a resident of Shanbe Goth in Sharafi Malir, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
The cases come amid continuing concerns over enforced disappearances in Balochistan. The Human Rights Council of Balochistan (HRCB) reported 95 cases in May 2026 and 63 in June.
In a separate submission, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) said it had documented 1,481 cases since 2025, including 963 people who remained missing at the time of its submission.
Pakistani authorities had not issued a statement on the reported detentions or the whereabouts of the five individuals at the time of publication.
