Five people, including a 17-year-old truck conductor, have allegedly been forcibly disappeared in separate incidents in Balochistan’s Nushki and Kech districts, while women staged a sit-in outside a Frontier Corps (FC) camp in Turbat to demand the release of two of them.

According to local sources, Muhammad Adil, 17, son of Muhammad Waris and a resident of Qaziabad in Nushki, was taken into custody near an FC checkpoint close to Zamzama Hotel at around 1 pm on October 7, 2026. Adil works as a truck conductor. The sources said his family had received no information about his whereabouts since his detention.

In a separate incident, Khan, 19, son of Pir Bakhsh and a resident of Qaziabad, Nushki, was taken from his home at around 3 am on October 8 by personnel of the FC, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), according to local sources.

Another young man, Shay Mureed Jamaldini, 23, son of Ahmad Nawaz and a resident of Killi Batto in Nushki, was allegedly taken from his home by FC personnel at around 9 am on October 9.

The families of Khan and Shay Mureed Jamaldini are still awaiting information about their whereabouts and condition.

In Turbat’s Nasirabad area, local sources said FC personnel took two businessmen, identified as Mazar and Asim, from their shops at around 6:15 pm on Monday. Their families have received no information about their whereabouts or well-being.

Following the incident, women staged a sit-in outside the FC camp in Nasirabad, demanding the recovery of both men. No information about their release had emerged at the time of reporting.

Meanwhile, the protest camp organised by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) against enforced disappearances in Balochistan continued outside the Quetta Press Club for its 6,386th day.

During the protest, Bibi Shahina visited the camp and submitted details of her son Kamran Khan’s case to the organisation. She said Kamran, son of Azizullah, was taken into custody in front of family members on April 1, 2026, in Killi Kashmirabad on Qambrani Road in Quetta.

According to Shahina, those who detained her son assured the family that he would be released within three days after questioning. However, more than six months have passed, and Kamran Khan has neither been released nor has his family received any information about his whereabouts.

Shahina appealed to senior authorities to take steps to secure her son’s recovery and end the family’s prolonged uncertainty and distress.

VBMP chairman Nasrullah Baloch assured her that the organisation would raise Kamran Khan’s case with the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances and the government. He said VBMP would continue to raise the issue on all available platforms to seek Kamran Khan’s safe recovery.

The organisation called for the recovery of Kamran Khan and all other persons reported to have been forcibly disappeared in Balochistan.

Dr Hakeem Lehri: An Era Comes to an End – TBP Editorial

Prominent Baloch nationalist leader Dr Hakeem Lehri passed away in Karachi on 7 October. His death is not merely the loss of a political leader, but marks the end of an era in Baloch nationalist politics, one built on ideological commitment, political perseverance, the struggle for national rights, and the determination to remain steadfast in one’s position under the most difficult circumstances. Dr Hakeem Lehri was among those political figures who maintained their association with Baloch nationalist politics from their youth until their final breath and dedicated their entire lives to the struggle for Baloch national rights. Dr Hakeem Lehri belonged to the generation of Baloch nationalist politicians who did not regard politics merely as a means of attaining power or pursuing temporary political interests. Rather, they linked it to national identity, political consciousness, collective rights and the future struggle of the nation. For him, Baloch politics was not a temporary pursuit, but a lifelong commitment. This was why, despite changes in political circumstances, the difficulties faced by the movement in different periods, the rise and decline of political forces, and the numerous obstacles placed in the path of the struggle, Dr Hakeem Lehri never abandoned his political commitment. He was a representative political activist and leader of the generation that witnessed Baloch nationalist politics pass through various historical phases. He witnessed state repression, military operations, the arrests and imprisonment of political activists, enforced disappearances, and the killings of political figures. He saw his comrades face hardships for their political struggle, witnessed his contemporaries endure various ordeals, and closely experienced the ups and downs that emerged within Baloch politics throughout this period. These events were not merely part of his personal memories, but living experiences of the political history through which his generation passed and which profoundly shaped the direction, character and nature of Baloch nationalist politics. The significance of his personality lay not only in the fact that he was a recognised name in Baloch nationalist politics, but also in that he was a witness to a long political era. He carried memories, experiences and observations of a political struggle that influenced generations. Such individuals serve as the historical memory of any political movement, because their lives bring together its different periods, achievements, failures, disagreements and sacrifices. When such figures pass away, it is not merely the loss of an individual; the movement is also deprived of a witness who observed its history at close quarters and played a role in its various stages. Dr Hakeem Lehri is no longer among us, but his life and political commitment will remain part of the history of Baloch nationalism. He will be remembered as a member of the generation that maintained its political identity even under difficult circumstances and remained committed to the struggle for national rights until the end, rather than abandoning it. His death marks the end of an era, but the political memory and historical significance of that era will continue to form part of the study of Baloch politics in the years to come.

BLA Releases Video of Hammal Maritime Defence Force’s 2nd Attack in Jiwani

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has released a two-minute video of an attack on Pakistani Coast Guards boats in Jiwani, a coastal area of Gwadar district in Balochistan. According to the BLA, 13 Pakistani personnel were killed in the attack. The video, released through the group’s official media channel, Hakkal, shows armed men aboard a boat. The organisation identified them as members of its maritime unit, the Hammal Maritime Defence Force (HMDF), and said they used a boat equipped with modern weapons to target two Pakistani Coast Guards boats patrolling the waters off Jiwani. The Hammal Maritime Defence Force is a maritime unit established by the BLA, which announced its formation on 13 April 2026. The group has described the Jiwani attack as its second operation involving the unit. On 12 April 2026, the BLA claimed to have targeted a Pakistani Navy patrol boat near Mil Tiyab in Jiwani, describing the incident as the HMDF’s first operation. The group also released a video of that first operation. Pakistani authorities have not yet released any details about the attack or commented on the BLA’s claims.

Four Bodies Recovered in Balochistan’s Kalat District

The bodies of four unidentified people have been recovered from two separate locations in Kalat district, Balochistan, and shifted to nearby government health facilities for medico-legal procedures and identification. According to police sources, three bodies were found in the Chhappar area of Kalat, while another was recovered from Malangzai in Manguchar. Police sources said the three bodies recovered from Chhappar were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Kalat, while the body found in Malangzai was taken to a Rural Health Centre (RHC). The identification process is under way. Police sources further stated that all four individuals appeared to have been subjected to torture and shot dead. Their identities and the motives behind the killings remain unknown. The recovery of unidentified bodies has been reported in various parts of Balochistan over the years. Some individuals found dead in such circumstances have later been identified as people who had previously been reported missing. Families of missing persons and human rights groups have repeatedly alleged that some were victims of enforced disappearance and extrajudicial killings. On the previous day, ten bodies were recovered in Barkhan district. One of the deceased has so far been identified as a person who had allegedly been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces.
