A new case of alleged enforced disappearance has been reported from Quetta, while two previously missing individuals have reportedly returned home in separate developments.
According to family members, 15-year-old Qudratullah Baloch, son of Safar Khan Baloch, was taken into custody from his home in Killi Almas on Airport Road, Quetta, during the early hours of 17 May 2026.
The family alleges that personnel from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Pakistani intelligence agencies detained Qudratullah at approximately 1:00 am before taking him to an undisclosed location. They say no information has since been provided regarding his whereabouts or legal status.
Meanwhile, Mehrab Khalid, a film-making student at the National College of Arts (NCA) in Lahore, has reportedly returned home after several days of disappearance.
According to sources, Mehrab Khalid was allegedly taken into custody on the night of 29 May at around 12:30 am. Eight of his fellow students were also reportedly detained during the same incident but were later released, while Khalid remained missing. His recovery was confirmed on Sunday.
In a separate case, Mir Chakar Marri, son of Elahi Bakhsh and a resident of Jalalabad in Harnai district, has also reportedly returned home.
Family members said that Marri had been missing since 14 May 2026 and was released in Loralai on 3 June 2026.
No official details have been made public regarding the circumstances of either man’s disappearance or release.
Enforced disappearance remains a contentious issue in Balochistan, with families, human rights organisations and political groups regularly raising concerns over missing persons cases. Pakistani authorities have repeatedly stated that security operations are conducted in accordance with the law and have rejected allegations of involvement in unlawful detentions.
