In an unfortunate event early Friday morning, the lifeless body of a rare blue whale, an endangered specie, was found adrift off the coast of Jiwani, Gwadar. The deceased marine giant, measuring an estimated 42 feet in length, is a member of a species currently under threat of extinction.

Blue whales, renowned as the largest creatures on our planet, can extend up to 30 metres in length and weigh a colossal 170 tonnes. Despite their awe-inspiring size and formidable presence, these marine leviathans are becoming alarmingly scarce in our oceans.

According to a spokesperson from the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Pakistan, upon receiving news of the discovery, the organisation immediately dispatched a team to the scene. The team confirmed the whale’s massive size through measurements conducted directly at sea.

In an effort to provide deeper insight into this whale’s life and health prior to its death, samples were taken from the deceased whale for DNA analysis. Further details about the cause of the whale’s death and the results of the DNA analysis remain pending.

In a related development, the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) has announced plans to preserve the remains of the deceased whale. Director General GDA, Mujeebur Rahman Qambrani, has instructed Deputy Director Environment GDA and Aquatic Specialist Abdul Rahim Baloch to initiate necessary steps in this regard.
