Heavy rains and floods have wreaked havoc in Balochistan, prompting the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to declare an emergency in the region. The severe weather conditions have resulted in rivers and streams overflowing, the Mirani Dam in the Kech district reaching capacity, and water being discharged through spillways. The situation has also caused communication roads to be washed away by water, disrupted highway traffic, and tragically claimed the lives of five individuals.

In response to the crisis, the PDMA has implemented an emergency in Balochistan, alerting staff and machinery to address the situation.

In the Parom tehsil of Panjgur district, two young men, Adnan and Sulaiman, aged between 18 and 19, tragically lost their lives when a wall collapsed amid the heavy rain. Local sources reported that the victims had been riding a motorcycle and sought shelter against a wall to protect themselves from the harsh winds and rain when the wall suddenly collapsed, trapping them beneath. Despite rescue efforts by local residents, both young men succumbed to their injuries.

The extreme weather has also caused infrastructural damage. In the Bil-Nagor area, 14 solar panels owned by telecommunications company Zong were destroyed, leading to a network outage in the area.
Further reports indicate that the company’s towers and solar systems in the surrounding areas of Dasht and Bil-Nagor have also sustained damage, resulting in widespread network disruptions and leaving residents facing significant communication challenges.

The ongoing heavy rains have led to numerous reports of human and financial losses across Balochistan. In the Lasbela district, houses that had been reconstructed following previous floods have collapsed once more, highlighting the severity of the situation.
