Two armed groups have claimed responsibility for separate attacks in Balochistan, including an assault on electricity infrastructure in Naseerabad district and a large-scale operation in Khuzdar district that allegedly resulted in significant casualties among Pakistani security forces.
In a statement issued to the media, a spokesperson for the armed group known as the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) said its fighters had targeted two electricity transmission towers connected to the Uch Power Plant in the Rabbi area of Naseerabad district on the night of 11 June.
According to the group, explosives were used to bring down the towers, causing damage to power infrastructure and disrupting electricity supply in parts of Balochistan. No official statement regarding the reported attack or its impact was immediately available.
In a separate statement, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) claimed responsibility for a large-scale operation carried out on 8 June in the town of Naal, located in Khuzdar district.
The group said the operation involved attacks on mobile phone towers, security installations, roads and other infrastructure. It also claimed to have established temporary roadblocks and engaged Pakistani forces at multiple locations across the town.
The BLF stated that its fighters killed 33 members of the Pakistani forces during the operation and shot down two military helicopters and two surveillance drones. The group further claimed to have destroyed military vehicles, mobile communication towers and commercial facilities linked to the minerals sector.
The organisation stated that all of its fighters involved in the operation had withdrawn safely following the clashes.
Pakistani authorities had not publicly confirmed the reported casualty figures, the alleged destruction of military aircraft, or the broader account of events described by the group at the time of publication.
The BLF characterised the operation as part of its long-running insurgency against the Pakistani state and described it as both a military and political action. The group reiterated its stated objective of seeking independence for Balochistan.
Balochistan has experienced a prolonged insurgency involving armed groups, military operations by the Pakistani state, and recurring attacks on security personnel, infrastructure and economic projects.
