A Baloch woman, identified as Nargis Baloch, has reportedly gone missing after being taken into custody in Karachi, according to her family.
Relatives told local media that Ms Baloch was taken from a residence in the Gulistan-e-Johar area of Karachi on Wednesday night. They said she had been staying there with her husband, Mayar, and their children at the home of a relative.
The family alleges that she was removed from the property by Pakistani security personnel. However, no official statement confirming her detention or whereabouts has been issued by the authorities.
Ms Baloch’s name had previously appeared in media reports earlier this year. On 28 January, a number of social media accounts, allegedly supportive of the state, claimed that she had left her native area with armed individuals. Subsequently, her husband was presented before the media and appeared to endorse that account.
Recent information provided by family members indicates that Ms Baloch had been living in Karachi with her husband and children prior to her reported disappearance.
The circumstances surrounding the case remain unclear and no response from the relevant authorities was available at the time of publication.
