Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has said that five individuals killed in a reported security operation in the Naseerabad region have been identified through fingerprint analysis.
In a statement, the CTD said that the identification process was carried out in connection with Case No. 38/2026 registered at the CTD police station in Naseerabad. According to the department, the deceased were identified as Jo Saal, son of Khair Mohammad; Sonu Khan, son of Imam Daad; Abdul Razzaq, son of Abdul Ghani; Sardar Ali, son of Mithan; and Abad, son of Mir Khan.
The CTD stated that the bodies are currently being kept at the mortuary of the Civil Hospital in Quetta and that efforts are under way to locate and contact relatives.
Meanwhile, family members and local sources have identified one of the deceased, Abdul Razzaq Pirkani, son of Abdul Ghani and a resident of Marriabad Machh in Kachhi district, as a man who had previously been reported missing.
According to relatives, Abdul Razzaq was taken into custody by Pakistani security personnel on 10 January 2026 from Abdul Ghaffar Qalandrani’s petrol station. They say he remained missing thereafter and that no information regarding his whereabouts had been made public prior to the CTD’s announcement.
The circumstances surrounding the deaths have become a subject of dispute. While the CTD has described the incident as a security operation, relatives and rights advocates have raised concerns because one of the deceased had previously been reported missing.
Allegations that individuals who were previously subjected to enforced disappearance have later been killed in alleged armed encounters have surfaced on multiple occasions in Balochistan. Human rights groups and families of missing persons have repeatedly called for transparent investigations into such cases, while authorities have generally maintained that operations are conducted in accordance with the law.
At the time of publication, no independent investigation into the circumstances of the deaths had been announced.
