Baloch National Movement has called for worldwide protests on 28th of June, on the occasion of BNM’s leader, Dr. Deen Mohammad Baloch’s twelve years of abduction.

BNM will also run an online campaign on 28th of June to highlight the issue of Dr. Deen Mohammad’s long “enforced disappearance”.

In a series of tweets, Baloch National Movement has said that “BNM will hold worldwide protests on twelve years of disappearance of BNM leader Dr. Deen Mohammad Baloch. He was abducted & disappeared on June 28, 2009, from his hospital by Pakistani intelligence agencies in Ornach, Khuzdar. Everyone is requested to join.”

The BNM also said, “all zones are directed to hold protests and reference programs to highlight twelve years of forcible disappearance of Dr. Deen Mohammad Baloch and other missing persons. Same day an online campaign will be run on social media by using the hashtag #SaveDrDeenMohdBaloch.”

Dr Deen Mohammad Baloch, a senior leader and a member of the Central Committee of BNM was abducted allegedly by the Pakistani security forces from Ornach, Khuzdar twelve years ago.

According to the eyewitnesses of the incident, Dr. Deen Mohammad was “abducted” from his hospital, when he was performing his medical duties. He resisted the abduction, but he was tortured and taken into custody in an injured condition, eyewitnesses confirmed.

Sammi and Mehlab Deen, daughters of Dr. Deen Mohammad have been protesting for the safe release of their missing father for the last twelve years. Sammi Deen participated in a long march, in 2013, from Quetta to Islamabad, demanding immediate release of her father. Sammi once again took to the streets of Islamabad in 2021 along with other families of Baloch missing persons in search of their loved ones.

In 2020 a UK minister and Secretary of State Grant Shapps raised the issue of Dr Deen Mohammad’s disappearance with UK Foreign Office. In response the Foreign Office had confirmed that The UK Government remains concerned about reports of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Pakistan.
