The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) on Monday claimed responsibility for 16 attacks across Balochistan over six days, including Sunday’s maritime attack off Jiwani, where it said 13 Pakistan Coast Guards personnel were killed and a commander of its maritime unit died.
In a statement, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said the operations took place between October 7 and 12 and included convoy ambushes, IED and sniper attacks, highway blockades and attacks on men it accused of working for the Pakistani military.
Convoy Ambushes and IED Attacks
The BLA said its fighters ambushed a Pakistani military convoy in Panjgur’s Panchi area on October 10, claiming that four personnel were killed and several injured. It added that two military vehicles came under direct attack.
In Khuzdar’s Pir Umar area, the group said its fighters attacked Pakistani forces at the Hamza Ghar checkpost on October 8, then targeted bomb disposal personnel on foot with an improvised explosive device (IED), claiming one was killed and two injured.
The forces retreated, the BLA said, adding that its fighters subsequently destroyed the checkpost in an explosion.
The group also claimed attacks on personnel clearing a road, commercial vehicles and a military convoy in Manguchar’s Chotank area on October 11, saying two military personnel were killed and several injured.
A soldier stationed at a post in Basima’s Kalghali area was killed in a sniper attack on October 12, according to the statement.
The BLA also reported convoy ambushes in Kalat’s Garari area on October 7 and Dasht-e-Baba on October 10, claiming casualties and damage without providing figures. It said Pakistani forces providing security to convoys were also attacked in Awaran’s Gwarkop area on October 11.
Highway Blockades Attacks on Alleged Military Operatives
The BLA said its fighters blockaded the Quetta–Taftan trade route at Nokchah in Chagai for two hours on October 8, taking control of the road and checking vehicles.
Another blockade was established at Lagh Aap in Dalbandin on October 12, where the group said its fighters checked vehicles for more than an hour.
In Nushki’s Reko area, the BLA claimed responsibility for seizing a vehicle carrying supplies to Pakistani forces on October 10, saying the vehicle and its cargo were taken away.
The BLA said its aerial and drone warfare unit, QAHR, ambushed a vehicle carrying alleged military operatives in Qila Abdullah on October 10, claiming that three were killed and more than seven injured. It added that the vehicle was advancing after a drone strike on what it called a “death squad” camp.
In Awaran’s Gishkaur area, the group said its fighters attacked Pakistani forces and members of an alleged state-backed armed group at Marsham on October 10, claiming two operatives were killed and two wounded. It said military personnel also suffered casualties, without providing a figure.
HMDF Commander Killed in Jiwani
The statement also gave further details of Sunday’s attack off Jiwani, saying the BLA’s Hammal Maritime Defence Force (HMDF) simultaneously targeted two rigid-hull inflatable boats belonging to the Pakistan Coast Guards.
The BLA said 13 Coast Guards personnel were killed in the attack. It added that its fighters also clashed with a nearby Pakistani forces post during the operation.

HMDF unit commander Nawaz Baloch, alias Ustad Gajiyan, was wounded during the fighting and later died, the group said.
Nawaz, son of Rasool Bakhsh Hoth, was from Turbat’s Gokdan area. According to the BLA, he became involved in the Baloch armed movement in 2010 and formally joined the group in 2020, serving in Tump, Mand, Dasht, Turbat, Parom, Panjgur and the coastal belt.
The group said his brother Mubashir Hoth, alias Shah Dost, was killed on the Kulbar front in October 2020, while another brother, Nabeel Ahmed, alias Ali, was killed in a clash in Turbat on April 29, 2025.

The BLA paid tribute to Nawaz and described him as the first fighter in the contemporary Baloch national movement to be killed in a maritime battle.
The group said the Jiwani attack demonstrated the expansion of its operations across land and sea.

“This attack demonstrates that the BLA has now formed a multi-dimensional combat structure where, alongside the terrestrial front, no safe haven remains for the occupying state on the maritime front either,” the statement said.
It called the Baloch coast a “financial and commercial lifeline” for Pakistan and its allies, accusing them of exploiting coastal resources through trade projects and militarisation while damaging local fishermen’s livelihoods.
The group said maritime movement, supplies and military assets would remain targets, adding that “this naval war of ours will continue with full force and scope”.
