Seven people were killed and 18 injured when two Mazda trucks and a passenger van collided on a bridge near Zameendar Hotel in Machh, in Balochistan’s Kachhi district, police said.
Women and children were among those killed and injured. Police said nomadic families were travelling in both trucks.
The injured were taken to Civil Hospital Machh, where several were reported to be in critical condition. Critically injured patients were being transferred to Quetta for further treatment.
A shortage of ambulances was hampering the transfers, with official sources saying the hospital had only one functioning government ambulance, while two others were out of service.
Local residents were collecting donations and hiring private vehicles to transport the injured to Quetta.
