Spokesperson for the Balochistan government Liaquat Shahwani confirmed on Twitter that Balochistan’s Forest and Wildlife Department has found a pair of the rare breed of Leopards, the Persian or Caucasian Leopard, in Koh-i-Chiltan mountain ranges in Balochistan.

The Persian leopard is an endangered species of wild Leopards. According to one research, less than 1000 Persian Leopards roam in the wild. These animals mostly inhabit the mountain steppes of Turkey, Afghanistan, Iraq, Azerbaijan and a few other Asian countries. Their discovery in Balochistan is a momentous event. It is the first time that this animal has been sighted in the region.

Balochistan Government Spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani shared the photos of the newly found Persian Leopard on social media. In these photos, the animal can be seen stretching its hind legs on a mountain precipice.

“The Balochistan government is taking steps for the protection and survival of wildlife”, Shahwani said in the tweet.
