A bomb blast in a busy market in Noshki has injured more than a dozen people.
According to local The Balochistan Post correspondent, a bomb exploded on Masjid Road, a busy market, during 14 August Pakistan’s independence day celebrations.
According to police, more than a dozen people were injured in the attack, however, most of the injuries were not of serious nature. At least one person was referred to Quetta for further treatment.
Security forces cordoned off the area soon after the attack and security was beefed up around the city. A musical concert planned for tonight has also been called off.
This is the second blast in two days in Noshki. Last night, a homemade bomb planted by unknown assailants had targeted preparations of Pakistan Independence Day on Azat Jamaldini roundabout, located on Jinnah road.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack at the time of filing this report.
Incidents of violence in Balochistan surge every year around the 14th of August when Pakistan celebrates its Independence Day. In August, Baloch nationalist groups also observe ‘black days’ against, what they term, ‘illegal occupation of Balochistan by Pakistan.
