Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) member Fauzia Baloch has alleged that Pakistani state authorities are pressuring her to resign from the organisation in connection with the disappearance of her brother, Dad Shashani Baloch.
Speaking alongside her mother during a press conference held at their residence, Fauzia Baloch claimed that her brother was forcibly disappeared on April 21, 2026, during a raid by Pakistani forces at their home in Karachi.
According to her account, around 20 to 25 armed men in plain clothes, accompanied by police vehicles and private cars, entered the house and detained Dad Shashani Baloch after subjecting him to physical violence. She alleged that personnel associated with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and intelligence agencies were involved in the operation.
Fauzia Baloch stated that family members attempted to record the incident but were threatened by the officials present. She further claimed that the authorities did not provide an arrest warrant or any legal justification for the detention, instead instructing the family to contact the local police station.
According to the family, attempts to register a formal complaint faced difficulties. Fauzia Baloch said police initially advised them to return after 24 hours, while a later application submitted at Maripur police station was not formally acknowledged. She also stated that police suggested filing a case against unidentified individuals, which the family refused, maintaining that security personnel and official vehicles were present during the raid.
She further alleged that her brother had previously been subjected to enforced disappearance and torture, and claimed that the family has repeatedly faced pressure due to her political activities and association with the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC)
Fauzia Baloch also accused police of obstructing a planned press conference at the Karachi Press Club on April 25. She claimed that police later stopped the family on their return journey, detained several relatives including her mother, and registered what she described as a false case against them.
She stated that her mother, who suffers from high blood pressure, was denied access to medication while in custody.
During the press conference, Fauzia Baloch alleged that intermediaries had conveyed messages suggesting that her brother’s release could be possible if she resigned from the BYC.
Pakistani authorities have not publicly responded to the allegations. In previous statements, officials have denied involvement in unlawful detentions.
Human rights organisations have repeatedly expressed concern over reports of enforced disappearances and intimidation of activists in Balochistan and other parts of Pakistan.
