Pakistani forces allegedly killed a man during a raid on his home and subsequently detained and forcibly disappeared his son, according to family sources.
Babar, son of Akbar, a resident of Sangani Sar in Turbat, was allegedly detained by Pakistani forces from the Absar Football Ground at around 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and transferred to an undisclosed location.
According to local media, family sources said Pakistani forces had raided Babar’s home the previous night in an attempt to arrest him. At the time, however, Babar was in the Kantani area for work.
The family stated that during the raid, Babar’s father, Akbar Haider, saw several people climbing over the wall of the house and allegedly mistook them for thieves.
According to the family, Akbar Haider fired into the air with his licensed pistol, after which Pakistani forces allegedly opened fire. One bullet struck him in the abdomen. After being shot, Akbar Haider was seriously wounded and lost a significant amount of blood. The family alleged that Pakistani forces prevented him from being taken to hospital or receiving medical treatment.
Family members said that after searching the house and completing other operations, the forces left the area. By that time, however, Akbar Haider had died from significant blood loss.
According to sources, Babar returned home following his father’s death and said that he was innocent and had not been involved in any unlawful activity.
The family said Babar was at the Absar Football Ground at around 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday when Pakistani forces detained him and transferred him to an undisclosed location.
Expressing concern over Babar’s detention, his family said he was not involved in any illegal activity and that the forces had allegedly acted on a misunderstanding. They demanded information about his whereabouts and called for him to be brought before a court if there are any allegations against him.
