The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) said on Friday it had carried out 284 armed attacks in the first six months of 2025, claiming to have killed more than 668 Pakistani military personnel during a period marked by escalating armed activity, including fidayeen operations, town takeovers, and the hijacking of the Jaffar Express train.
The figures were released in a new infographic report published by Hakkal Media, the BLA’s official communication platform. The group described the operations as part of a broader strategy to inflict “organized, lethal, and effective damage” on the “occupying Pakistani forces in Balochistan.”
According to the report, the group targeted Pakistani army convoys, military installations, intelligence operatives, and state-backed militias in a sustained campaign.
The number of attacks recorded in just six months has already come close to the total number of BLA operations documented in all of previous year. In 2024, the BLA claimed responsibility for 302 attacks, which reportedly resulted in over 580 fatalities and more than 370 injuries.
“In the first six months of 2025, Baloch Liberation Army freedom fighters inflicted heavy losses on the occupying Pakistani army through deadly attacks,” the group said. “BLA freedom fighters continuously targeted the occupying army, its local collaborators, and military installations.”
The BLA said at least 668 Pakistani soldiers were killed, along with 58 informants and agents. It also claimed 290 arrests, 121 bombings, the destruction of 131 vehicles, and the hijacking of a train.
It is worth noting that in March this year, the BLA claimed responsibility for hijacking the Jaffar Express train, stating that it had captured more than 200 security personnel. The group alleged that the hostages were executed after the Pakistani military refused to negotiate a prisoner exchange.
In addition, the BLA said it had launched nine special operations, including three “fidayeen,” or suicide-style, attacks. A total of 36 of its fighters were killed in action during this period, including seven “fidayeen.”
The group also claimed that its fighters took control of more than 45 locations across Balochistan and “completely destroyed” 17 military installations. It added that “more than 115 different types of weapons and large quantities of ammunition were also seized.”
“These statistics and military actions clearly demonstrate that the Baloch Liberation Army has inflicted organized, lethal, and effective damage on the occupying state forces in the first half of 2025,” the statement said.
“BLA’s strategy has not only succeeded in gaining ground dominance but has also dealt a substantial blow to the enemy’s military confidence and operational capabilities,” it added.
The BLA warned that its armed struggle will continue with “greater intensity and strategic planning,” vowing to make Balochistan “no longer a safe front for the occupying state.”
