Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has claimed to have killed seven people in Loralai district of Balochistan belonging to the Baloch armed group, Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF).
According to a CTD spokesman, the CTD clashed with armed men in the Kohar Dam area of Loralai, on Wednesday evening, killing seven people belonging to the BLF.
However, the BLF’s position in this regard has not yet come to light.
A spokesman for the CTD said arms and ammunition were also recovered from the compound used by those killed in the encounter, including three sub-machine guns, four pistols and a large quantity of arms and ammunition, as well as Afghan and Pakistani currency.
The CTD has not yet released the identities of those killed.
“The men had left Afghanistan and were planning to carry out terrorist activity in the area when their objectives were thwarted by the timely action of the CTD”, the spokesperson said.
It may be recalled that similar claims have been made by the CTD in the past, which were later proved to be fake encounters and the victims of enforced disappearances were reportedly killed in those encounters.
On 12th of August this year, the CTD had claimed that five members of the Baloch Liberation Army, including Khan Muhammad and Jamil Ahmed were killed during the operation in the New Kahan area of Quetta.
One of the five, killed in the encounter was later identified as Khan Muhammad, a resident of Soorab Gidar. Confirming the identity of Khan Mohammad, the family members said that he was forcibly disappeared from Panjgur by Pakistani forces two years ago.
Locals are anxious about the Wednesday’s incident, that the missing persons already in custody might have been killed by the CTD in a fake encounter.
