The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has condemned what it described as the extrajudicial killings of Salman Bangulzai and Attahullah Baloch, saying both men had first been forcibly disappeared and that their cases reflected a “continuing pattern of enforced disappearances, custodial torture and unlawful killings” in Balochistan.

In two separate statements, the BYC said Salman Bangulzai, son of Abdul Nabi Bangulzai, a 33-year-old shopkeeper and resident of Khudabadan, Panjgur, was forcibly disappeared shortly after Eid in 2026.

The organisation said Salman remained in “torture cells” until July 31, when his body was recovered from the Newan Kaur area of Panjgur.

The BYC said Salman was a shopkeeper who had been working to provide for his family when he was taken away.

“After days of waiting, the family received his bullet-riddled body instead of welcoming him home,” the statement said.

The organisation said his case had added to concerns over “enforced disappearances, unlawful killings and the absence of accountability” in Balochistan.

In a second statement, the BYC said Attahullah Baloch, son of Faqeer Jan Baloch, a 35-year-old resident of Kodask, Khuzdar, was forcibly disappeared from Panjgur on March 24 by personnel of the ISI, CTD and MI.

The organisation said Attahullah remained in “illegal detention and torture cells” for nearly three months until June 21, when he was “extrajudicially killed” in Panjgur.

“Three months. That is how long the state kept Attahullah Baloch alive in its torture cells, and how long it kept his family suspended between hope and dread,” the BYC said.

The BYC said the uncertainty faced by families of forcibly disappeared persons was not incidental, but part of what it described as a deliberate method of control.

“This waiting is not incidental, it is the method. The uncertainty is inflicted deliberately, and the silence is engineered,” the statement said.

The organisation said Attahullah’s family did not lose him only on June 21, but had been made to lose him slowly over 90 days.

The BYC said both cases reflected what it described as a “systematic pattern of enforced disappearances, custodial torture and extrajudicial killings carried out with complete impunity” in Balochistan.

“There is no legal process, no accountability, and no justice, only enforced disappearances, torture, and death,” the BYC said.

The BYC called on the international community, the United Nations and human rights organisations to “break their silence”, hold those responsible accountable and act to end the cycle of enforced disappearances and unlawful killings in Balochistan.

Pakistani authorities had not issued a response to the BYC statements at the time of publication.
