A sit-in outside Bolan Medical College (BMC) in Quetta against the alleged enforced disappearance of nursing student Khadija Baloch entered its 12th day on Sunday, as her family and students continued to demand her recovery.
Family members say Khadija Baloch was taken from the BMC hostel by Pakistani armed forces, including Frontier Corps and Counter Terrorism Department personnel, in front of other students.
They said she was dragged from the hostel and taken to an undisclosed location, after which her whereabouts remain unknown.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) said Khadija’s family had been protesting outside the college for nearly two weeks, but no progress had been made in her case.
In a post on X, the BYC said the family had faced difficulties during the 12-day protest and accused the authorities of harassing participants instead of ensuring Khadija’s safe recovery.
It said photographs of protesters were being taken at the protest site, while some participants were allegedly followed after leaving the sit-in and attempts were made to detain them.
“Even today, as on previous days, participants at the protest were photographed, followed, and attempts were made to detain them,” the BYC said, adding that such tactics would not end the protest but would “only strengthen it”.
The BYC demanded that the state and the Balochistan government stop subjecting Baloch students to what it called “collective punishment” and immediately release Khadija Baloch and other missing Baloch female students.
