The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has released the names, photographs, and biographical details of several fighters who it says were killed during clashes and suicide attacks in the second phase of its military campaign, “Operation Herof.”

According to the group, the operation was carried out between January 31 and February 6 across more than a dozen locations in Balochistan. The organization stated that its fighters were engaged in clashes with Pakistani security forces, intelligence personnel, police, and pro-state armed groups during the campaign.

The BLA claims that 93 of its members were killed during the second phase of the operation, including 50 members of its suicide unit, the Majeed Brigade.

Fighters named by the group

Among those identified was Muhammad Din Marri, also known as Waheed, a resident of Sibi Sanga and a member of the group’s “Fateh Squad.” According to the BLA, he joined the organization in 2022 and was killed during fighting on the Mastung front. The group said two of his brothers had previously died while participating in the armed movement.

Another fighter identified was Arsalan Mandai, also known as Musa, from Nushki. The BLA said he studied fine arts at the University of Balochistan and joined the organization in 2025 before being killed in fighting in Kharan during Operation Herof.

The organization also named Kabir Sarparah, also known as Ilyas, from the Sariab area of Quetta. According to the BLA, he joined the group in July 2025 and was killed during clashes in Kharan.

Among members of the Majeed Brigade, the group identified Inayatullah Bangulzai, also known as Babar, from Splinji in Mastung. The BLA said he joined the organization in April 2024 and later became part of the Majeed Brigade, serving as a patrol commander before being killed in fighting in Quetta during the operation.

The group also reported the deaths of Naimatullah Gurgnari, also known as Javed, from Mastung, and Qudratullah Kurd, also known as Majeed Baloch, from the Maro area of Splinji. Both were described as members of the Majeed Brigade who were killed during clashes in Quetta near the railway station close to the city’s Red Zone.

Other fighters named include:

  • Shamsul Haq, also known as Umar Jan, a 26-year-old member of the Fateh Squad from Surap in Panjgur, who the group said was killed in fighting in Nushki.
  • Lal Bakhsh, also known as Darpashan, from Kerki in Turbat, a member of the group’s Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOS), killed in clashes in Nushki.
  • Atif Shah, also known as Agha Murid, from Killi Mengal in Nushki, also described as an STOS member killed during the same fighting.
  • Asfand Qambarani, also known as Rokin, a patrol commander in the Fateh Squad from Quetta, who the group said was killed in fighting in Kalat while preparing for the operation.

Additional fighters announced in a separate statement

In a subsequent statement, the BLA released details of three more fighters on 1st March, who it said were killed during the same campaign.

These included Asmatullah Mengal, also known as Salal, from Nushki, who the group said joined the organization in 2024 and later became a member of the STOS unit before being killed during fighting in Nushki.

The group also named Imtiaz Baloch, also known as Azal, from the Maripur area of Karachi. According to the BLA, he joined the organization in 2022, later became part of the Majeed Brigade, and took part in earlier operations in the Bolan region before being killed during Operation Herof Phase II.

Another fighter identified was Nisar Baloch, whom the organization described as an experienced commander who had participated in earlier phases of the Bolan operations. The BLA said he served as the operational commander for attacks targeting the Frontier Corps headquarters in Nushki during the six-day battle there and was killed during the fighting.

Background

Armed groups operating in Balochistan have carried out a series of attacks on Pakistani security forces and government installations in recent years. Groups such as the BLA say they are fighting for the independence of Balochistan, while the Pakistani government designates them as militant organizations and conducts security operations against them.
