Two brothers were allegedly detained by Pakistani armed forces and subsequently went missing in Turbat, while a rights group has also condemned the recent discovery of the bodies of two previously missing young men in the district.

According to family members, Pakistani security forces carried out an early-morning operation on 28 February 2026 in the Gulshan Abad area of Turbat, located in Kech District of Balochistan. During the raid, the forces allegedly detained two brothers, Zakriya and Rehan, sons of Haji Muhammad Awaz.

Relatives said the two were taken into custody around 4:30 a.m., during the pre-dawn meal time in Ramadan, and were moved to an unknown location. The family says there has been no information about their whereabouts since the detention.

The family has appealed to human rights organizations and political parties to raise their voices for the recovery of the two brothers and to help ensure their safe release.

Rights group condemns recovery of bodies

Meanwhile, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has strongly condemned the recovery of the bodies of two young men in Kech district, describing the incidents as part of what it called a continuing pattern of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan.

According to the group, Manzoor Baloch, a 17-year-old student and son of Nabi Bakhsh, was forcibly disappeared on 8 July 2025 from his home in Kolwahi Bazaar in the Absar area of Turbat. The organization said that after months of searching for information about his whereabouts, his body was recovered on 26 February 2026 from the Kech Kor area of Turbat.

The group also reported that Imran Taj Baloch, 26, a student at the University of Turbat, was allegedly detained on 27 June 2025 while traveling during the daytime. His body was found a day later, on 27 February 2026, in the same Kech Kaor area, reportedly bearing visible signs of torture.

In its statement, the BYC said the incidents represent serious violations of constitutional protections, international law, and fundamental human rights. The organization called for immediate, transparent, and impartial investigations into both cases and urged authorities to end enforced disappearances.

The group also appealed to international human rights organizations, the United Nations, and the broader international community to take notice of what it described as ongoing human rights violations in Balochistan.

Pakistani authorities had not issued an immediate public response to the allegations at the time of reporting.
