The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has accused Pakistani authorities of systematically prolonging the detention of its top leaders through deliberate legal delays and denial of due process.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the group’s spokesperson said that BYC’s central organizers – Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Beebarg Baloch, Sibghatullah Shah Jee, Beebow Baloch, and Gul Zadi Baloch – have been kept in custody under extended judicial remand after a lengthy period of physical detention. The spokesperson alleged that despite repeated court orders, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has yet to submit a formal charge report.

“The repeated extensions granted by the court suggest that both the judiciary and state institutions are working in concert to delay proceedings,” the statement read, claiming that this was part of a “deliberate plan” to keep the BYC leadership imprisoned indefinitely.

The spokesperson further said that prison authorities had recently informed the detainees that future court hearings would take place inside Quetta’s Hudda Jail rather than in open court, citing “security concerns.” The BYC described this move as a “serious violation of fundamental human rights and an affront to both domestic and international law.”

According to the group, detained social activist Beebarg Baloch’s health has deteriorated severely. He reportedly suffers from a blocked urinary tract requiring urgent surgery, yet prison officials have refused to provide adequate medical treatment. “This is both inhumane and contrary to the rights guaranteed to prisoners under international conventions,” the statement said.

The BYC has appealed to the United Nations, international human rights bodies, and civil society organizations to take immediate notice of the “unlawful detention and rights violations” and to pressure the Pakistani government to ensure fair trial standards, medical care, and access to legal counsel in accordance with international law.
