An improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Gwadar killed six Pakistani soldiers on Sunday night, in what was one of several attacks targeting Pakistani forces across Balochistan in the past 24 hours.
The IED attack took place in Gwadar city’s New Town area when unidentified assailants targeted a vehicle in a convoy of Pakistani forces. Local sources said the blast destroyed the vehicle completely, and the remains were removed from the site at around 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
Pakistani authorities have not issued any statement on the incident, while security forces have maintained a cordon around the area since the attack.
In Kech district’s Mand area, armed men simultaneously attacked military camps in Maheer and Soro. Local sources reported hearing heavy gunfire and multiple explosions during the assaults, which continued for an extended period.
Earlier, in the Jhao area of Awaran, armed men attacked a Levies checkpoint on the main road, seized control of the post, confiscated all weapons from personnel, and set the structure on fire. In nearby Jhao Nowndra, another Pakistani military checkpoint came under attack, with assailants reportedly shooting down a quadcopter during the assault.
In Washuk district’s Basima, sustained gunfire and explosions were heard for more than half an hour near the central military camp on Monday night. Residents said they counted more than 14 blasts in succession, though details on casualties remain unclear.
In Khuzdar district’s Zehri area, a military operation is under way in Bulbul, Tarasani, and Ghazan. According to local sources, clashes between armed men and Pakistani forces took place at multiple locations during the operation, while military helicopters continue to conduct flights over the area.
