Baloch “pro-independence” armed groups have claimed responsibility for a series of attacks in Balochistan’s Mastung, Kalat, Barkhan, and Khuzdar districts, saying they killed at least six Pakistani army personnel and executed a man accused of working with military intelligence.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) said its fighters carried out two attacks against Pakistani forces in Mastung and Kalat.

The group said its fighters ambushed a military convoy in the Marao Kund area of Spilinji, Mastung, late on Sunday night. The convoy was reportedly attempting to advance into the area when it came under attack.

Automatic weapons were used in the attack, the BLA said, killing three soldiers and injuring several others.

In a second attack, the group claimed it targeted a bomb disposal squad with a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) in the Makki area of Johan, Kalat district.

The BLA said three more Pakistani soldiers were killed in the blast and one was seriously injured.

Meanwhile, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) said it had executed a man it accused of working with Pakistani military intelligence.

In a statement released on Sunday, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said the man, identified as Duniya Khan Marri, was executed on the morning of 15 June in Barkhan district.

According to the group, Marri was arrested on 6 June in Baghaw, Barkhan, and later confessed to helping Pakistani forces identify BLF members and Baloch civilians during military operations.

The group accused him of being involved in enforced disappearances and intelligence gathering on behalf of the Pakistani army.

The BLF said it would release further information about the network Marri was allegedly part of once its dismantling is complete. The group also issued a warning to other alleged informants to cease their activities or face similar consequences.

In a separate incident, BLF fighters attacked a Ufone telecommunications tower near Sadiq Hotel in Wadh Bazaar, Khuzdar district, on the night of 15 June.

The group said it set fire to the tower’s machinery and solar power system.

Both the BLA and BLF said they would continue to target Pakistani forces, state infrastructure, and alleged collaborators as part of their campaign for an independent Balochistan.
