Residents of Balochistan’s Nushki district have accused Frontier Corps (FC) personnel of mistreating them during detention and failing to return thousands of rupees taken during an operation following a shooting near the Deputy Commissioner’s residence.
According to the residents, Pakistani forces detained several people from Killi Faqiran on suspicion after a shooting on the bypass road near the DC House two days earlier. They said the detainees were released after questioning.
In a complaint addressed to the Inspector General of FC Balochistan and the Corps Commander, the affected residents alleged that personnel entered their homes, verbally abused them and ordered all the men to gather at one location.
The complainants said personnel took their mobile phones, wallets and cash. They added that they counted the money in their pockets and handed it over to FC personnel.
The residents further alleged that personnel tied the hems of their shirts together and took them to the FC headquarters while forcing them to chant slogans.
Their mobile phones and wallets were returned upon release, but all the cash was missing, the complainants said. When they asked for their money, personnel allegedly told them: “Leave the matter of the money to God.”
The affected residents called on the Corps Commander, the Inspector General of FC Balochistan and other senior officials to investigate the alleged mistreatment, damage to their homes and failure to return their money. They demanded legal and departmental action against those responsible.
The residents said such treatment of ordinary citizens was adding to tensions amid the deteriorating law-and-order situation in Nushki.
Similar allegations have previously emerged during operations elsewhere in Balochistan.
In September, residents of Tump’s Kasano area in Kech alleged that Pakistani forces searched homes, took valuables and set fire to a house belonging to Ikram Baloch. They also accused personnel of physically abusing residents during the raid.
In June, residents of Gomazi, also in Tump, alleged that military personnel damaged or demolished homes, took cash, gold and household belongings, and mistreated civilians during an operation.
