A man who had been allegedly forcibly disappeared two days ago in Gwadar was found dead in forces’ custody on Monday, local sources confirmed. The victim, identified as Salam s/o Haidar, was a resident of Dasht Kambil and had reportedly been picked up by Pakistani military and intelligence personnel from his home in the Ghatti Dor area.
According to family members, Salam’s body was returned on Monday by the security forces. However, they said armed personnel remain stationed outside their home and are pressuring them not to open the coffin and to conduct an immediate, silent burial.
The family alleges that they are being intimidated into silence and are not being allowed to reveal the condition of the body to the public or media. Despite this, they have appealed to the people of Gwadar to stand in solidarity with them and support their demand for justice.
Rights observers note that there has been a noticeable increase in reported custodial killings across Balochistan in recent months, with growing concerns over the lack of accountability and legal recourse for affected families.
