At least five people—including four Levies soldiers from Balochistan—were killed in an attack in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Saturday.

According to reports, a deadly IED blast was followed by a gun attack on a private vehicle carrying Khanozai Levies personnel along the National Highway near Daraban in Dera Ismail Khan. The assault claimed the lives of five individuals, including a Naib Risaldar and three soldiers.

The deceased have been identified as Naib Risaldar Noor Ahmed, Levies Sepoy Rasheed Zaman, Daud Khan, Bilal Ahmed, and a private vehicle driver whose identity is yet to be confirmed.

According to Assistant Commissioner Karezat, Pishin, the SHO of Dera Ismail Khan had informed Khanozai Levies on January 28, 2025, about a stolen truck in Dera Ismail Khan. A team of Levies officials was dispatched to complete legal formalities; however, while en route, their private vehicle was ambushed near Daraban.
