The Judicial Magistrate of Quetta has recently issued arrest warrants for Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the chairman of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP). The warrants stem from FIR number 43 for the year 2024, filed at the Gawal Mandi police station in Quetta.

Security forces conducted a raid at Achakzai’s residence after he publicly declared his candidacy for the presidency of Pakistan following the recent general elections. Although Achakzai was not present during the raid, he faces charges related to obstructing government operations under articles 447 and 448 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The judicial magistrate issued the arrest warrant when Achakzai failed to appear before the district administration. The warrants were officially issued on April 22, and the police are required to present him before the magistrate on April 27.

The PkMAP chairman chaired a meeting of a newly formed opposition alliance called Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aain in Islamabad on Thursday. This alliance includes six parties: PTI, JI, SIC, MWM, BNP-Mengal, and PkMAP. During the Thursday meeting, representatives from these parties, including PTI’s Omar Ayub, SIC’s Hamid Raza, and MWM’s Nasir Abbas, decided to launch a peaceful countrywide protest against what they deem an “illegitimate government.” They assert that this government was propped up by Pakistan’s powerful military through rigged elections.
