Unidentified individuals blew up a gas pipeline in Sindh, disrupting the gas supply to several parts of Karachi, Pakistan’s biggest industrial city.

According to reports, A 36-inch diameter pipeline, carrying natural gas, was blown up in Sindh’s Khairpur district late on Friday disrupting the gas supply from Sui to Karachi.

Soon after the incident, Pakistani law-enforcement officials rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.

In a statement issued to the media, a “pro-independence” Baloch armed group Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) took credit for blowing up the aforementioned gas pipeline and vowed to continue such attacks till the independence of Balochistan.

Similarly, another ‘pro-independence’ Baloch armed group, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for an IED attack on a Pakistani forces’ convoy in Awaran district of Balochistan.

Mjr Gwahram Baloch, the spokesperson for BLF informed the media that their fighters targeted a convoy of the Pakistani army between the areas of Kinchiti and Hotan (Kolwah) in Awaran with a remote-controlled bomb.

Mr. Baloch claimed that the blast resulted in the destruction of a military vehicle and partially damaged another one killing seven Pakistani soldiers and injuring several others.

The blast reportedly took place in the early hours of Friday. However, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has not yet confirmed or denied the BLF’s claims, while local journalists from Quetta have confirmed the incident.
