In Mashkel, a Tehsil located in the Washuk district of Balochistan, a man’s lifeless body was discovered, leading to an ongoing police investigation. The victim was identified as Shabeer Ahmed, son of Muhammad Shareef, and his body was transferred to Civil Hospital Mashkel before being handed over to his family.
According to sources, Shabeer Ahmed left his home the day before his body was found, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding his death. The police report that he was shot and killed, though the motive remains unclear.
In a separate incident, two individuals who were previously reported missing have been released after a period of detention. Hashim, son of Rasool Baksh, from Mashkay Awaran, was released after five years of detainment. Similarly, Hafiz Aurangzaib, who went missing from Kharan, has also been released.
However, amid these releases, another individual has been reported missing. Naseer Ahmed, son of Faqeer Muhammad, was allegedly forcibly arrested in Turbat city of Kech district ten days after Eid-Ul-Fitr, and his whereabouts are currently unknown to his family.
It is essential to note that cases of enforced disappearances have been continuously reported in Balochistan, with more than 45,000 people missing from the region. Tragically, many have been found dead, their bodies discovered on roads, streets, or in mass graves.
The families of the victims and the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), an organization dedicated to advocating for the safe recovery of Baloch missing individuals, have been staging hunger strike camps in Quetta, Karachi, and Islamabad. These groups, along with human rights organizations, have pointed to Pakistani forces and intelligence agencies, alleging their involvement in such heinous crimes.
