A memorial event commemorating the late Baloch intellectual, literary figure and political personality Yousaf Naskandi was held at Mehr Ghar Hall in Karachi on Monday.
The programme was organised by Mehr Ghar in collaboration with the Wirsah Lyari Team. According to organisers, the gathering drew political, social, academic and literary figures from different parts of Karachi, alongside a large number of young attendees.
Speakers at the event discussed Yousaf Naskandi’s political activism, intellectual contributions and literary work, as well as his role in the broader Baloch national movement. Particular attention was given to his influence in raising political and social awareness in Lyari.
The discussion panel included political figure Abdul Wahab Baloch, academic and literary personality Waheed Baloch, and social and political activist Abdul Khaliq Zadran. The session was moderated by Zar Khan Baloch.
During the discussion, speakers responded to questions regarding Naskandi’s political thought, activism and contributions to Baloch society. Audience members also took part by sharing their views and raising questions about his literary and social legacy.
At the conclusion of the event, participants reportedly passed a joint resolution calling for the immediate release of Zahid Barakzai, described by organisers as a prominent literary and intellectual personality from Lyari.
