Inflation in Balochistan is rising at an alarming rate where the consumer goods are getting out of reach of ordinary citizens.

According to the statistics, the inflation rate in Balochistan has reached the 27.3%, the highest rerecorded level yet. The income sources of low-earning households have halved, while the increase in salaries is negligible. The rising inflation in Balochistan’s capital Quetta and other areas has drastically hit the low-earners, thus reducing the quality of life for the common folk.

According to the details, the price of unpacakged milk has increased by 15-20 rupees per litre, while the prices of pasteurized, packaged milk have also spiked.

On the other hand, the prices of vegetables have not been stabilized, despite their seasonal abundance. The prices of onion, potato, tomato, ginger, garlic, and other vegetables have skyrocketed.

And the purchasing power of low-income citizens is out of reach. Similarly, the prices of other consumer goods like eggs and broiler meat have also spiralled out of control. One of the main reasons for the lack of stability in the prices of food items is the active market committees, which set specific, whimsical prices without any government input or intervention.

The consumers say that inflation shows no signs of decreasing. Frequent price hikes have become the norm. The government should focus on the welfare of the people. Price control teams across Balochistan, including Quetta, have failed to control prices, the consumers complain.

The source of income of the people in Balochistan is very low, due to which demonstrations take place against unemployment by doctors, teachers, traders, fishermen and other individuals as well, but to no avail.
