On Thursday, Pakistan’s Anti-Terrorism (ATC) Court in Karachi issued arrest warrants for six accused “fugitives”.

According to reports, ATC has issued arrest warrants for six suspects in the Karachi University attack. The head of Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), Bashir Zeb, Haibtan Bashir, the husband of suicide bomber Shari Baloch, Rahman Gul, Khalil, and Mir Safeer is among the “fugitive suspects.”

The suicide attack was carried out by a female member of the BLA, Shari Baloch. The attack at Karachi University on April 26 this year killed three Chinese teachers including their Pakistani driver at the spot and injured at least two more teachers working for the Confucius Institute at KU.

Later on, Karachi police and law-enforcement agencies (LAEs) booked Bashir Zeb, Rehman Gul, Haibtan Bashir, and others in the case. Multiple raids were carried out to arrest the persons linked to the attack, particularly Habtan Bashir but no to avail.

In the latest development on Thursday, the court declared the nominated suspects as fugitives and issued their arrest warrants. The case was heard in the Anti-terrorism Court on Thursday in Karachi.

During the hearing, the police accused Shari’s husband Dr. Haibtan Bashir the suicide bombing and brainwashed his wife into joining the militant group. Police also said that an accused Dad Bux has already been arrested in the case. “The accused made revelations about targeting Chinese citizens along with his partner Nasir,” police stated.

While on the other hand,  the family members of Dad Bux — as per his family his name is Shoaib — rejected the allegations leveled by the law-enforcement agencies that “he is one of the main accused in the Karachi suicide bombing case and was also involved in one of the attacks on Chinese workers in Manipur of Karachi in which one Chinese personal was injured.”

The family says that Shoaib Baloch is a student from Naal town of Khuzdar district who was forcibly disappeared by the LAEs from Gulistan-e-Johar, Karachi on April 29, 2022. On July 4, 2022, CTD claimed to have arrested him from Manipur town in Karachi. Shaib’s family CTD’s claims and termed them as fabricated stories. Shoaib Baloch or Dad Bux’s family in a press conference in Turbat said that he was willing to be enrolled in Karachi University for further education. According to the family, he is a hardworking student but his arrest and baseless allegations against him will endanger his life and academic career.
