The Karachi police detained over two dozen Afghan nationals celebrating Pakistan’s loss in the Asia Cup final at the hands of Sri Lanka.

According to details, the Karachi police were on a routine patrol in the Sohrab Goth area when they spotted over two dozen Afghan nationals celebrating Pakistan’s loss in the Asia Cup final. The police reportedly checked their IDs and discovered that all of them were Afghan nationals who had allegedly entered Pakistan illegally. The police detained 26 individuals and moved them to jail.

Deputy Superintendent Police Sohail Faiz told the media that the Afghan nationals were arrested because they were causing “chaos” in the area. He said that the detainees had gathered in Sohrab Goth soon after the match was over where they were cheering and hurling expletives at the pedestrians. They also tried to harass a woman, the DSP claimed.

The DSP further said the arrestees had tried to provoke the general public into violence. They had forced several passers-by to shout “death to Pakistan” slogans.

It is pertinent to mention that the Quetta police had also arrested two dozen Baloch students for celebrating Pakistan’s loss in the Asia Cup final. They were kept behind bars for several hours before being released, and warned not to celebrate Pakistan Cricket Team’s losses ever again.
