A Pakistan Army captain was killed and 2 other army personnel injured in an attack in Washuk district of Balochistan, on Sunday.
According to reports, the injured soldiers were shifted to a medical facility in Khuzdar. The media wing of Pakistan Army, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the news.
The “terrorists” targeted the army vehicle through an improvised explosive device, the military’s media wing said.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan condemned the attack. While the Interior Minister of Pakistan Sheikh Rashid condemned the incident and expressed sadness on receiving news about the captain’s death.
The attack took place in the remote area of Basima in Balochistan, where gunmen opened fire on army’s vehicle. After the attack, another security vehicle coming to the aid collided with a landmine, killing Captain Kashif.
The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), a “pro-independence” armed group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
BLF spokesman Gohram Baloch said in the statement that its fighters ambushed a convoy of Pakistan Army. “After the attack, the fighters laid an IED on the way of the vehicles coming to the aid of the enemy army, which completely destroyed forces’ vehicle and killed all the 8 personnel on board,” he said.
