Fed up with lengthy quarantine, an employee of the Saindak project tried to commit suicide.

According to reports, due to being quarantined for a long period, Noor Ahmed, an employee of the mining department of MRDL tried to commit suicide by hanging himself with a roof fan. Other employees present on the scene failed his attempt and saved him.

MCC Resource Development Limited (MRDL) is a Chinese company working on the Saindak Copper-Gold project in Chagai area of Balochistan.

According to MRDL officials, the employee was sent back to his home. It is believed that due to the strict precautionary measures against the corona virus taken by the Chinese administration and long-term quarantine, local employees and officers are facing severe difficulties.

As per the employees, despite being tested negative for corona virus, they are kept in quarantine for several weeks, which is a torment for them, as they can neither go to work nor return home. They demanded authorities to take notice of the situation.

Saindak Copper-Gold Mine is located near Saindak town in Chagai district of Balochistan. The discovery of copper deposits at Saindak was made in the 1970s in collaboration with a Chinese engineering firm.
