The longest token hunger strike camp of modern times completed its 4098th day on Monday.

The hunger strike camp, organised by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), is for the safe recovery of Baloch missing persons. Social and political activists from Kalat visited the protest camp to express solidarity with the victims’ family on Monday.

Mama Qadeer Baloch, the Vice-Chairman of VBMP, addressed the delegation. He said that despite all the ‘state tactics’, the Baloch youth are increasingly participating in and supporting the peaceful struggle. Alarmed by the increasing popularity and acceptance of the Baloch struggle, the rulers are employing every tactic to frighten the Baloch society and derail the struggle, he said.

He said that enforced disappearances and the frequent discovery of mutilated dead bodies are explicit signs of ‘terrorism.’ This can only be ended with the success of the peaceful Baloch struggle and the liberation from ‘servitude.’

Mama Qadeer said that when the ‘tyranny’ and ‘injustices’ of the ruling class cross a particular threshold, the ‘subjugated nations’ get united and raise voice against the ‘state oppression.’

The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons is an organization that has been advocating for the safe recovery of the Baloch missing persons for the past 11 years. The protest has been through many odds throughout its course. In 2013 VBMP activists, led by Mama Qadeer, broke a world record by marching 3000 kilometers from Quetta to the federal capital, Islamabad, against enforced disappearances. The march attracted massive media attention and the activists met with the representative of United Nations, European Union and several other countries.
