A demonstration was organized in Zehri, Khuzdar, against the extrajudicial killing of Hayat Baloch in Turbat. Scores of people – especially the youth – marched on the streets, fervently raising slogans, condemning the killing and demanding justice for Hayat Baloch.

According to the details, a demonstration was held in Zehri on Monday against the extrajudicial killing of Hayat Baloch. Members of the civil society, social activists, students and the general public participated in the protest. The demonstrators marched on the roads, raising slogans like: “Justice for Hayat Baloch”, “Stop the ethnic cleansing of the Baloch” and “Stop the extrajudicial killings.” The participants also carried placards and banners that bore messages like: “Genocide is not justified on the name of the accident” and “Who is next?”

Several speakers addressed the demonstration, saying that the Baloch are United and, therefore, immune to the “divide and rule” strategy. They further said that Hayat Baloch’s extrajudicial killing is not an isolated incident, but the continuation of the 72-year-long ‘ethnic cleansing campaign’ in Balochistan. “This is not the first incident and it certainly won’t be the last; our farmers, students and even professors aren’t safe.”

The speakers said that the Baloch have lost the right to life; our youth is tortured, killed and then their bodies are thrown away. “We don’t have any hopes from this system”, they said. The speakers also lambasted the political parties, saying that they can organize demonstrations for Kashmir, but can’t lift a finger for an innocent, extrajudicially killed student.

Another demonstration was organized by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam in Zehri on Tuesday against the killing of Hayat Baloch. Addressing the demonstration, the speakers said that Hayat Baloch’s brutal murder before his parents refreshes the memory of the Karbala. They said that the Baloch children are orphaned; Baloch women are widowed; innocent blood is shed on the Baloch soil. They said that if someone is involved in an offence, take them to the courts and legally punish them, otherwise close the doors of the judiciary. The speakers concluded by demanding a capable and reactive administration in Zehri, free from ‘kowtowers’ and ‘bootlickers’, that can maintain peace and stability.
