Flood hits several villages, bridges and highways in different districts of Balochistan.

According to the details, Torrential rain wreaked havoc on infrastructure in several parts of Balochistan as the current monsoon spell continued, triggering flash floods that closed highways at several places and disrupted gas supply.

At least one person lost his life and three others received injuries in rain-related incidents in Balochistan’s Quetta district.

According to the sources, four children drowned in Kili Nasran in Quetta, in a result of which one died and another was rescued in critical condition while two children were rescued by residents of the area.

Heavy rains caused flood rails which washed away the canals and tube wells, causing loss of millions of rupees to landlords and farmers in Panjgur and Washuk areas of Balochistan.

Stormy rains in Panjgur’s border area of Parom, Gar Pelkoh, Koh Bon, Rahi Negwar, Kulg Gachak have wreaked havoc and caused losses to the residents.

According to the residents of the area, such catastrophic rains and floods have not been seen in their entire lives. All the agricultural dams have been swept away in the floods and the agricultural tube wells including solar plates are also broken.

Rains and floods wreaked havoc in Nag, Besima, Rukshan Patak and Sherinza areas of Washuk district.

Floods caused houses and shops to collapse, while rainwater seeped into houses. Where the rains damaged the crops, the solar kits were also damaged. Hundreds of dams were swept away in the floods, causing millions of rupees to the landlords.

In Washuk, after heavy rains, the rivers and streams overflowed, causing rainwater to enter the houses. The continuous rains also damaged the date palm trees and flooded the ready onion crops in Sub-Tehsil Nag.

Rains destroyed thousands of acres of onion crops in Shiraz, Patak, Gurgaon, Pareh Bazar, Badrang, Hussainzai Kapar and Maladoni. Dozens of agricultural boreholes with solar panels were swept away in the floods.

In Patak, floodwaters entered the bazaar, demolishing eight shops.

Turbat: A huge water relay is flowing in Kech River due to which three people were trapped in a flash flood at Kalatuk area of Kech and were rescued by locals.

Meanwhile, a part of Mach Bridge collapsed due to recent rains, cutting off the land route of Mach from all over Balochistan while an alert has been issued by the administration in Bolan.

The embankments of Mach Bridge in Bolan area have been depleted for the last six months. Earlier, when a part of Mach Bridge collapsed, it took 3 years to repair it. “The irresponsibility of the concerned department further aggravated the problems and sufferings of the people,” locals said.

On the other hand, after the recent rains, a red alert has been issued by the Commissioner of Naseerabad district, Abid Saleem.

Commissioner Naseerabad said that after the ongoing rains in Bolan, there is flood situation in Bolan River. He claimed that the administration is ready to deal with any kind of situation effectively, all the concerned agencies are on alert.

The commissioner also appealed to the people to avoid unnecessary travel on Bolan National Highway.

Recent rains in the mountain ranges of Sindh and Balochistan have raised the water level in Hub Dam by another 4 feet and only 5 feet of water is required to fill the dam completely.

According to WAPDA sources, in the sixth spell of the monsoon this year, apart from Karachi and Sindh, heavy rains have also lashed the mountain ranges of Balochistan, causing extraordinary relay of water to reach Hub Dam.

According to WAPDA sources, the water level in Hub Dam was at 330 feet till three days ago. The water level in Hub Dam had reached 334 feet at 9 AM, today and the flow of water is still continuing. According to WAPDA sources, the remaining storage capacity of Hub Dam is only 5 and a half feet.

According to sources, the Hub Dam, which covers an area of up to 45 km and has a level of 350 feet, can store water up to a level of 339 feet. After filling the dam, excess water is discharged from the spillways and falls into the sea through the Hub River.

The water storage in Hub Dam has been declared sufficient by the Department of Agriculture and Karachi Water Board for the next two and a half to three years.

According to sources, even if there is no more rain next year, Hub Dam will continue to supply agricultural use to many areas of Balochistan and drinking water to Karachi till 2023.

It should be noted that due to the extraordinary rains of the monsoon season this year, about 30 feet of water has reached Hub Dam.
