Baloch Students Organization held token hunger strikes in several cities of Balochistan and in Karachi on Tuesday

According to The Balochistan Post correspondent, Baloch Students Organization (M) held token hunger strikes in Noshki, Uthal, Sibi and Osta Muhammad cities of Balochistan and also in Karachi.

The protests and hunger strikes were arranged to show solidarity with the families of Baloch Missing Persons and the victims of enforced disappearances.

The camp in Karachi was visited by leftists, rights activists and Baloch students studying in Karachi.

It was not the first time Baloch students sat in token hunger strikes or in hunger strikes till death. In 2014, Lateef Johar, a student leader, sat in hunger strike for 46 days for the release of Zahid Baloch, Chairman of BSO Azad, who still remains missing.

Moreover, a demonstration was held by Baloch and Pashtun students in Lahore at liberty round-about to show solidarity with the family members of the victims of enforced disappearances in Balochistan.

It is pertinent to mention, families of Baloch Missing Persons have set their main protest camp in front of Quetta Press Club, which has now completed its 10 years under the leadership of Mama Qadeer Baloch, whose son Jalil Reki was killed, and Nasrullah Baloch, whose brother remains missing after almost two decades.

Balochistan is plagued by the enforced disappearances of Baloch youth and activists. However, recent instances of ‘women and children abductions’ have also been reported.

International campaign groups including Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International accuse Pakistani security forces as the perpetrators of ‘illegal abductions in Balochistan.
