Families of missing persons continued their protest against enforced disappearances outside the Quetta Press Club, demanding the safe recovery of their loved ones, as the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) said a government commission had formally registered another disappearance case.
The VBMP protest camp entered its 6,390th consecutive day on Friday, with the father and brother of Kamran Khan joining the demonstration to demand information about his whereabouts.
According to his family, Kamran Khan was detained by Pakistani forces from Killi Kashmirabad on Qambrani Road in Quetta on April 1, 2026, and taken to an undisclosed location. His whereabouts remain unknown, with the family saying the continued uncertainty has caused severe psychological distress.
A day earlier, VBMP chairman Nasrullah Baloch announced that the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances had formally registered Kamran’s case, assigned it a case number and issued notices to the relevant institutions concerning his recovery.
He said the organisation had already submitted the case to the commission and the government, expressing hope that the proceedings would help secure Kamran’s safe return.
Meanwhile, Khan Muhammad, father of Muhammad Riaz Satakzai, visited the protest camp on Thursday and called for the recovery of his son, who was allegedly forcibly disappeared from the Daghari Cross Frontier Corps (FC) checkpoint on May 6.
Khan Muhammad said police and senior officials had recorded his statements concerning the disappearance on the commission’s instructions. However, the authorities had neither explained the reasons for his son’s alleged detention nor provided any information about his whereabouts.
He said the prolonged uncertainty had caused severe distress to his family and appealed to senior authorities to ensure his son’s safe recovery.
Nasrullah Baloch called on the government to ensure the recovery of Kamran Khan, Muhammad Riaz Satakzai and other missing persons. He said that if any disappeared person was accused of an offence, the authorities should produce them before a court in accordance with the law, rather than leaving their families in prolonged uncertainty.
The VBMP chairman also demanded an end to enforced disappearances and the extrajudicial killings of missing persons in Balochistan.
Separately, Yasir, son of Qadir Bakhsh, a resident of Miani Kalat in Awaran’s Mashkay area, was released from Karachi Central Jail on October 6 after nearly eight months.
Yasir had reportedly been forcibly disappeared on February 2, 2026.
