Two brothers have reportedly gone missing after being detained in separate incidents in Quetta, according to local sources and family members.
Reports from the capital city indicate that security personnel, accompanied by Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officials, conducted raids in the Killi Brewery area and detained two young men on different dates before transferring them to undisclosed locations.
According to the family, 20-year-old Hasnain, son of Abdul Rashid, was taken into custody on 31 May, while his elder brother, 23-year-old Mohammad Rahim, was detained on 2 June. The family alleges that both were subsequently disappeared and that no information regarding their whereabouts has been provided.
Sources said the two brothers are students. Family members claim that neither has been produced before a court nor allowed contact with relatives since being taken into custody.
No official statement has been issued by Pakistani authorities regarding the reported detentions or the current status of the two young men.
The reported case comes amid continuing allegations of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, where families, rights groups and political organisations have repeatedly raised concerns over individuals allegedly being detained and subsequently going missing. Authorities have previously stated that security operations in Balochistan are conducted in accordance with the law and are aimed at countering militancy and maintaining security.
