The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has expressed concern over the recovery of the bodies of two brothers who, according to the organization, had been forcibly disappeared by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Machh, Balochistan.
According to the BYC, Mittha Khan, son of Nawab Khan, a student at Bolan Medical College, and his brother Hafiz Mohammad Waqas, son of Nawab Khan, a Levies personnel and Hafiz-e-Quran, were detained together approximately 10 days before Eid al-Adha and forcibly disappeared from Machh, Bolan district. Their bodies were recovered on 24 August 2026.
The BYC said Mittha Khan was a medical student with a promising future, while his brother Hafiz Mohammad Waqas, a personnel of a law-enforcement force, Levies. The organization said their deaths had caused severe distress to their family.
The BYC expressed concern over what it described as continued enforced disappearances, torture and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan. It said that detaining civilians while denying them legal proceedings and access to the judicial process constitutes a violation of fundamental human rights.
